Comparisons with Harrison

This may seem cruel or wierd to compare Harrison with Jack Nicholson, but lately I have noticed that Harrison's "do" is channeling that of the Mr. Nicholson's. What do you think?

BFF's

So right now Ben's best friends are two adorable little girls named London and Abbey. Every day he wants to know if we are going over to Abbey's house, or if London is going to come over? He calls for them in Target. "London where are you?" He also calls for London's mom, Kristen. We saw her there once, and I guess he thinks Kristen and London live at Target. I would be so jealous. :) There was also the time that Ben chased Abbey around the house for a while trying to kiss her, but we won't dwell on that one. Ben is always very excited about going to church because he wants to see his friends. Not a bad problem to have. At church, if Ben sees Abbey or London walking to bible class with their parents, he will run up to them, grab their hand, or their parent's hand, and walk with them. It's pretty cute. Here are a couple pictures that capture their adventures. :)

Priceless

I'm sorry but I just have to share these pictures because the faces that Harrison makes sometimes for the camera are just priceless! He's doing great by the way. He just the happiest little thing and always has a smile for me. He loves to talk too! Almost every night we have about a five minute conversation before he goes to bed. I am just positive that he is telling me all about his day and all the things that Ben did to him (good and not so good) when I wasn't looking. I just love my time with him! I am so very lucky!

Terms of Endearment

Well Benjamin continues to amaze me on a daily basis, especially with his knack for picking up words and terms. So I am in bed early this morning (8:30) lightly snoozing (totally conked out) with Ben watching cartoons beside me and Darrel getting ready for work, when I guess Ben starts asking me for a waffle. (Just a side note: when Ben asks for a waffle, he really doesn't want one. He really just wants to get down off the bed to play. He has found that the most effective way to drag his parents out of bed is making us think that he is hungry. Please don't judge us.) So anyways back to the story. Ben starts asking me for a waffle and Darrel said it went something like this- Ben calling to me: "Hey mom, waffle? Waffle? Hey Mom! Mom! (He is having no luck as I wear ear plugs.) Hey Babe! Babe! Hey Babe, waffle?!" Unsurprisingly, I guess I slept through this and had to hear it second hand from Darrel, who was very delighted to tell me about it when I woke up a couple minutes later. I guess I can be happy that he is no longer calling me Beth and has moved on to a more sophisticated term of endearment that I can only hope he picked up from Darrel. Needless to say we let him down off the bed in which he immediately forgets about the waffle (told ya) to run circle's around the swing occupied by a sleeping Harrison and then on to making a castle out of the couch pillows in the living room. And that was just the first two minutes of my day. Oh well, at least my son thinks my name is Babe. :)

Cousins

Ben and Harrison finally got to meet their new cousin this past week when Aunt Laura and adorable baby Aidan came to visit us. Only one and a half months apart, Harrison and Aidan make quite the pair. Laura and I tried so very hard to get the perfect picture of the two of them, but one of the babies was always moving their head or a hand would be blurry. But thanks to Laura, we did get a couple of keepers!
Check out these future heartbreakers!

Best Seat in the House

During the Super Bowl, Darrel put Harrison on his shoulders, and it was just too adorable from behind to not take a picture of it. :)

First Day of School

So yesterday was Ben's first day of school- sort of. Many of the church's around here have "Kid's Day Out" or "Mom's Day Out" programs, in which kids attend a pre-school like program for a couple of hours one day a week so moms can have a little breather. I have been very excited for Ben to start, not because I need a breather (but's it's nice), but because Ben just needs to get out of the house and enjoy more activities with kids his own age instead of boring mom. :) So the big day arrives and we are on our way to the church when I realize that I don't know which entrance to go in as I have never been to the school. Disclaimer: Please don't judge me for not checking out the school and seeing where Ben would be spending his time. My excuse is that many of Ben's friends attend this program and I trust their parent's judgement. Also, I just had a baby (uhhh 11 weeks ago, does this excuse still hold water?). Anyways, so the church is huge and I am not sure where to go, but I do see a ton of cars parked in the front lot so I went ahead and assumed that this must be the entrance that parent's use for the school. Wrong. So with Ben in tow, Harrison in his carrier, a backpack and my purse, we head towards the entrance. Once inside the lobby of the church I notice a lot of elderly people dressed in black. Yep- you guessed it I was in the midst of a funeral. I realized this just in time for Ben to be standing about a foot in front of a open casket pointing and yelling, "What's that Mommy? What's that?" Mortified, I grab his hand and drag him away, in which I couldn't even think of a lie to tell him of what that was, and I was pretty sure that this turn of events was going to quickly qualify me for the "Worst Prepared Mother of the Year Award". Luckily, a kind lady showed me which direction the school was and we were off. Ben was a little upset when I left him (that's code for I could hear him screaming pretty much until I was out of the building), but he actually ended up doing very well and is "willing" to go back. There should be a picture to post with this entry, but due to the circumstances I was just glad to get in and out of there without anymore issues. I'll have to get the picture next time, since I know where to park now. :)

Let's get this party started!

Just an adorable picture of Ben waiting for his friends to arrive at his birthday party on Saturday.

Party Time

This weekend we celebrated Ben's 2nd birthday by throwing him a "Little Einsteins" themed party for him and all of his friends. We had been talking about it with him all week trying to get him excited and I think we did the job because Ben was up by 4 a.m. on Saturday morning saying over and over, "I'm ready!","Party", "Cake!!!", and "I speem" (ice cream). By 11 a.m. Ben was busting at the seams for the party to start that he even decided to wait at the door for his friends. I was a little worried about how we were going to entertain 12 two year olds, but you know they pretty much entertain themselves :). They colored, played with instruments, ate cake and ice cream, and enjoyed listening to the professional children's entertainer that I hired (Darrel) to sing and play the guitar for them. By the end of the party Ben was delirious with joy from the day's events and slept through the night for the first time in weeks. Yeah! I think the following video sums up how Ben felt about his party pretty well. Mission completion. (That's Little Einstein talk for you non-preschooler parents.) :)
